In January 2026, TUNBEE was contracted to supply furniture and fixed joinery for the renovation of the Wolou Building at the Emei Mountain Golden Summit Hotel, one of China’s most iconic mountain-top hospitality properties. Located at an elevation of 3,077 meters on the Golden Summit of Mount Emei—a UNESCO World Heritage site—the project presented unique logistical and technical challenges.
The contract, valued at 2.95 million RMB, required TUNBEE to supply a wide range of products: all loose furniture for guest rooms and public areas, fixed joinery including wood veneer wall paneling and millwork, solid wood doors, upholstered and fabric-wrapped wall panels, and all associated hardware and fittings. The project had a completion deadline of July 10, 2026, giving TUNBEE 130 days from contract signing to final installation.
The primary challenge was logistics. The Golden Summit is accessible only by a combination of road transport to the mountain base, followed by a cable car system and then manual handling over the final section to the hotel. All materials had to be carefully packaged to withstand multiple handling transfers and the mountain’s variable weather conditions. TUNBEE designed custom packaging solutions for each product category and coordinated with the cable car operator to schedule material deliveries during off-peak hours to minimize disruption to tourist operations.
The mountain-top environment also imposed specific technical requirements on the products. Materials needed to withstand significant temperature variations, high humidity and the corrosive effects of mountain mist. TUNBEE selected materials and finishes with enhanced durability specifications: moisture-resistant wood products, anti-corrosion hardware, and fabrics treated for mold and mildew resistance. All products were also required to meet the fire safety standards applicable to high-altitude buildings.
The renovation also required sensitivity to the site’s cultural and environmental significance. As a World Heritage site, the project had to comply with strict preservation guidelines. TUNBEE worked with the hotel’s design team to ensure that all new furniture and finishes were sympathetic to the building’s traditional architectural character while meeting modern hospitality standards.
Installation began in March 2026. TUNBEE deployed a specialized installation team to the summit, working in shifts to complete the work within the available construction window. The project is on track for completion by the July deadline, with the client expressing satisfaction with both the product quality and the company’s ability to overcome the project’s extraordinary logistical challenges.
